Dominic's musical stint began in his school years
when in 1989, he intended to learn the keyboards. Not satisfied, he then went on
to learn the drums and still not satisfied, he further went on to explore the
guitar and finally settled on the Bass guitar.
"A bass guitar is like the foundation, upon which you the
whole song is shouldered upon.."
His first band was
The Impressions, Bahrain
where he played various instruments depending on the songs but most of the time, it was his first love...the bass
guitar. "I had
an occasional encounter with the keyboards, rhythm guitar & the drums although it was rarely for more than a
couple of songs."
He continued with The Impressions till 1994, playing in various venues
around Bahrain.
He then went on to pursue his
further studies in Pune,India. Having acquired his Bachelor's Degree in Computer
Science and an MBA in IT & Marketing, Dominic managed to maintain a harmonious
balance between his second love martial arts (Shito-Ryu & Goju-Ryu
Karate-Do) as well as his musical talents.
"During
our college days a
bunch of college mates decided to start a band named
Catharsis
& we had performances at Jazz Garden and the Rajneesh Osho
Ashram in Pune and various other gigs,as
well as being opening acts for Strange Brew, Pune."
Eventually, his first job as Project Leader & Manager in SNS Technologies, then Enfusen Software, next X-istech Software & Adansoft (all software companies in Pune) required devoted time to work and very little time for hobbies allowing showcase of his musical talents only at company gatherings,etc.. though with The Nightshades there's always something interestingly new to learn...
"The
Nightshades has been a new learning curve for me since I always believe one is
always learning new things as one gain's more experience and this is a perpetual
on-going process."
